2nd Team selections are Hannah Albion, Lauren McLeod, and Nikki McCollum.
Honorable Mention is Daniela Gallego, Victoria Matthews, and Cecelia Morales.

Naples Daily News has released their 2011 All-Area Girls Swimming Team. 6 GCST swimmers on the 1st Team are Courtney DeVeny, Lexi Faunce, Nikki McCollum, Lauren McLeod, Danilea Jordan, and Daniela Gallego.
Congratulations to these GCST swimmers on a great high school season!

GCST's Michael Pineda (Gulf Coast High School), and Eddie Zacka (Estero High School) were selected to the Naples Daily News All-Area Swimming Team for 2011. Michael is also selected to the 2011 CCAC All-Conference Team. Congratulations to these GCST swimmers.

11/12/11 FHSAA 2A State Finals
Finals update: Lexi Faunce finished 7th in Consols with a 2:00.63. Courtney DeVeny finished 6th in the 200 IM with a 2:07.78. Lauren McLeod finished 5th in Consols of the 100 Fly with a 1:01. Lexi Faunce finished 5th in Consols with a 5:15. Michael Pineda finished 5th in Consol Finals in the 500 Free with a 4:43.37. Courtney DeVeny finished 5th in the 100 Back with a 57.71.
Swimming in tonight's 2A State Finals are Courtney DeVeny in the 200 IM (2:08.87), and 100 Back (58.20), Lexi Faunce in the 200 Free (1:59.82), and 500 Free (5:13.01), Lauren McLeod in the 100 Fly (1:00.38), and Michael Pineda in the 500 Free (4:40.85).

11/11/11 FHSAA 1A State Finals
Matt Nielsen made the Consol Final of the 500 Free with a 4:47, and finished 8th at Consol Finals with a 4:48. Matt finished 20th in the 200 Free. Hannah Albion finished 18th in the 500 Free with a 5:16.

11/5/11 2A-4 Region Meet
GCST swimmers had an outstanding Region meet at FGCU on Saturday November 5th. Courtney DeVeny is the Region 4 Champion in the 200 IM, and the 100 Back. Courtney also swam an All-American Consideration Time in the 100 Back. Swimming best times at the meet were Courtney DeVeny (200 IM, and 100 Back), Lexi Faunce (200, and 500 Free), Daniela Gallego (200 IM), Nikki McCollum (500 Free), Lauren McLeod (100 Fly), Micheal Pineda (50, and 500 Free), and Eddie Zacka (200 IM,and 500 Free).
Top 8 finishes were Lexi Faunce finished 8th in the 200 Free, and 6th in the 500 Free. Danilea Jordan finished 4th in the 200 IM, and 3rd in the 100 Free, Lauren McLeod finished 5th in the 500 Free, and 6th in the 100 Fly. Daniela Gallego finished 8th in the 200 IM. Nikki McCollum finished 7th in the 500 Free. Michael Pineda finished 2nd in the 50 Free, and 8th in the 500 Free. Eddie Zacka finished 7th in the 200 IM. Blake Woodrow finished 5th in the 100 Fly.

Hannah Albion finished 4th in the 200 Free with a 2:01.57, 5th in the 500 Free with a 5:17.12. Matt Nielsen finished 3rd in the 200 Free with a personal best time of 1:48.73, and 4th in the 500 Free with a 4:52.33. Estero High swimmers won six events Monday at the Lee County Athletic Conference meet at Florida Gulf Coast University.
In the team standings, Estero finished runner-up to Cape Coral, with Fort Myers, Riverdale and North Fort Myers rounding out the top five.
Danilea Jordan was a four-time conference champion, with individual wins in the 50 freestyle (25.44) and 100 freestyle (55.11).
Courtney DeVeny captured the 100 backstroke in 1:00.90, besting the remainder of the field by nearly five seconds. DeVeny was also a winner in the 200 individual medley (2:14.15), with teammate Daniela Gallego finishing third.
DeVeny and Jordan both competed for Estero in the Wildcats’ victories in the 400 freestyle relay (with Gallego and Lexi Faunce) and the 200 medley relay (with Lauren McLeod and Victoria Matthews).
In the boys race, the Wildcats placed third, while South Fort Myers was sixth.
Estero freshman Eric Ordaz had second-place finishes in the 200 free (1:51.43) and 500 free (4:55.57), both times completing the race just behind Fort Myers’ Michael Messuri. Eddie Zacka was second in the 100 backstroke and third in the 500 free.
Ordaz and Zacka teamed with Ryan Sorensen and Rich McCaw to take third place in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
Fort Myers won the boys team title, followed by Cape Coral, Estero, Riverdale and Cape Coral-Baker.

Molly DuBrasky chosen as News-Press All-Area Girls Athlete of the Year
Molly DuBrasky was selected as the News-Press Girls Athlete of the Year for 2010-11. Molly was chosen as the area's top female athlete based on her 5 State Swimming Championship Titles in 3 years, and 2 Swimmer of the Year Awards.
Congratulations to Molly for her hard work and excellence in the pool and the classroom. Molly will represent the University of Florida this Fall as she swims for the Gators.

GCST's Molly DuBrasky was awarded the Rotary South Girls Scholar Athlete of the Year Award and a $5,000 scholarship. Molly was awarded on her high academic achievements, community service, and her unprecedented 5 State Championships during her high school career. Molly DuBrasky, and Alex Latorre were Estero High Schools two selections for the Rotary South Scholar Athlete Banquet, and were the only high school swimmers selected from all area high schools. Olympian Bob Beamon was the keynote speaker.

NDN 2010 GIRLS SWIMMER OF THE YEAR: Molly DuBrasky

Kyle Snew, Alex Latorre, Michael Pineda, and Courtney DeVeny named to 1st Team
ESTERO — Winning a state championship is nothing new for Estero's Molly DuBrasky.
Neither is being named the Naples Daily News Girls Swimmer of the Year, an honor she earned in 2008, 2009 and again this year.
DuBrasky, a senior who has signed with the University of Florida, concluded her remarkable high school career by winning her fourth and fifth Class 2A state titles in November.

But it wasn't her individual accomplishments -- which also included Lee County Athletic Conference, district and regional titles in the 200-yard and 500 freestyles -- that made this season a special one for DuBrasky. Instead, it was the strength of Estero's team.

GCST High School Swimmers Outstanding at 2A State Meet
Molly DuBrasky won the 200 Free with a 1:48.34 (All-American Automatic), and the 500 Free with a 4:45.77 (All-American Automatic) to finish her high school swimming career. Molly has now won 5 state High School Titles. Her win in the Girls 500 Free is GCST's 5th straight win in the event. Kyle Snew closed out his high school career with an exciting runner-up finish coming from 4th place on the last length of the 200 IM to touch the wall in 2nd place with a 1:53.92 (All-American Consideration) and a personal best time. Kyle won the Consol final of the Boys 500 Free with a 4:40.69. Courtney DeVeny had an outstanding 7th place finish in the 100 Back with a 58.75. Courtney finished 10th in the 200 IM with a 2:10.87. Blake Woodrow finished 14th in the Boys 500 Free with a 4:51.54.

Molly Dubrasky qualified for Finals in the 200 and 500 Free. Kykle Snew qualified for Finals in the 200 IM, and Consols in the 500 Free. Courtney Deveny qualified for finals in the 100 Back, and Consols in the 200 IM. Blake Woodrow qualified 15th in the 500 Free.
Estero Girls 400 Free relay qualified for Championship Finals going in 6th with Molly DuBrasky, Courtney DeVeny, and Lexi Faunce. Estero Girls 200 Medley Relay qualified for Consol Finals with Lexi Faunce, Courtney DeVeny, and Molly Dubrasky. Estero Boys 400 Free Relay finished 16th with Kyle Snew, Rich McCaw, Eddie Zacka, and Alex Latorre. Michael Pineda will swim tonight on Gulf Coast HS 400 Free Relay in Consols. Blake Woodrow will swim tonight on Fort Myers HS Boys 400 Free Relay in Consols.
Kyle Marshall swam a best time in the 200 Free to finish 17th with a 1:47.98. Alex Latorre, and Blake Woodrow swam prelim bests in the 100 Fly at 55.54, and 55.58 respectively to finish 21st, and 22nd. Michael Pineda finished 23rd in the 500 Free with a 23.33, and 24th in the 100 Free with a 50.70. Alex Latorre swam a 1:06.49 to finish 23rd.

1A FHSAA Finals
Hannah Albion swam a 5:09.12 in tonight's Consol Finals of the Girls 500 Free, and finished 7th.
Hannah swam best preliminary times this morning in the 200 and 500 free. She qualified for consols in the 500 with a 5:09.24, and a. 2:00.11 in the 200 Free to finish 21st.
Matt Nielsen finished 19th in 500 free with a prelim best time of 4:55.09.
