OPEN WATER: GCST swimmers dominate Race for the Oceans
GCST swimmers have a great time at the beach with Olympians and open water swimming
Aaron Piersol’s "Race for the Oceans" benefit for Oceana came to Fort Myers Beach on October 10, and 11. Several GCST swimmers participated in the clinics and race events. They had a great time meeting Olympians Brendan Hansen, Hailey Piersol, Fran Crippen, Aaron Piersol, and Rowdy Gaines at the beach.
Harry Stephenson won the 18 & Under 5k by a wide margin, as did Blake Woodrow in the Youth 1k. Matt Nielsen finished 2nd, Jenna Fedec won the 8 & under Girls 1k, Sydney McMurray won the 9 & 10 Girls 1k. Peyton Hornung was 3rd in the 9-10 Girls 1k, Kendall Brent was 3rd in the 11-12 Girls 1k, Felicia Kimbrough finished 3rd in the 13-14 Girls 1k, Samantha Lake finished 5th in the 13-14 Girls 1k, Eric Ordaz finished 2nd in the 11-12 Boys 1k, Stephen Fedec finished 4th in the 11-12 Boys 1k. Hannah Albion finished 4th (2nd 13-14) in the girls 18 & Under 5k. David Albion finished 5th overall and 2nd in the 17-18 Boys 5k.
GCST Girls finish 1st, and 2nd, with Sydney McMurray, and Peyton Hornung, in the 10 & Under 500 Free Open Water Swim.
