NP ALL-AREA TEAMS...MANY GCST SWIMMERS LISTED

Congratulations to the following athletes and coach on an outstanding high school season as GCST was well represented on the News-Press All-Area Swimming Team for 2013.

Girls Team Selections

Coach of the year

Jennifer Seluk, Estero

The Wildcats have five swimmers on the first-team All-Area list this season and won the Lee County Athletic Conference meet.

Courtney DeVeny

School: Estero

Year: Senior

Achievements: DeVeny placed fifth in the Class 2A state meet in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.96. She also placed ninth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.30. Helped lead 200-yard medley relay team to a seventh-place finish. Won the Lee County Athletic Conference meet in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 backstroke.

Bean Faunce

School: Estero

Year: Freshman

Achievements: Placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.36 seconds. Also placed seventh in the 200-yard individual medley. She placed second in the Lee County Athletic Conference meet in the 200 IM and won the LCAC title in the 100 butterfly.

Lexi Faunce

School: Estero

Year: Senior

Achievements: Placed eighth in the Class 2A state meet in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:08.41 and 16th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.76.
