GCST Senior swimmer Kyle Marshall officially signed his scholarship offer from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. The school is located near Odessa, Teaxas. Congratulations to Kyle on his hard work and efforts paying off.

OPEN WATER FESTIVAL IS STILL A GO! While the Open Water swim loyalists await USA Swimming’s decision in regards to relocating the 10K World Trials and 5K Nationals, plans move forward on GCST’s behalf in order to balance the Festival which will continue as planned. Temperatures are starting to rise quickly during our afternoon workouts. It is very important to keep your swimmer hydrated with cold liquids during hard training sessions. Clear plastic bottles are unacceptable as they heat up quickly in the sun. The swimmer then has nothing but hot water or Gatorade to drink during the workout. Disposable plastic bottles are NOT allowed at any GCST workout at any pool. Each swimmer should have an insulated plastic jug, with cold water or sport drink mix available during each workout, and swim meet. Don’t...

Blake Woodrow won the 4k event for 13-14 boys as led from start to finish. Kyle Marshall finished 1st in 17-18 age group in his first 10k, and 6th overall. Congratulations to both GCST swimmers on a job well done in two very tough races. Harry Stephenson (Columbia University) was the overall winner of the 10K. GCST swimmers had the pleasure of meeting Olympic Gold Medalist in the 400 Meter Free, 800 Meter Free, and World Record Holder in the 800 Meter Free from the 2008 Olympic Games, British swimming star Rebbeca Adlington. GCST swimmers had some great swims and big time drops at the T2 Saturday Special Swim Meet at the Norris Pool in Naples, FL on April 2, 2011. 68 of 119 swims were best times.
