The 2012 Black and Blue Meet was held last night at the San Carlos Park Pool.  We swam Freestyle, Backstroke, and finished with relays.  The Blue team took the win by a slim margin of 285 to the Black teams 276.  All swimmers came away with ribbons and smiles!  Thanks to everyone that helped run the 2nd FUN Meet in our series of 4 FUN Meets. Practice will be cancelled at all pools on Friday May 4th except for the Senior Team at FGCU.  All other swimmers should be attending the Black and Blue FUN Meet at the San Carlos Park Pool.  The events for this meet are Freestyle, Backstroke, and Relays. Please sign-up on the GCST website to attend this meet.  If you don't know how, please notify your coach to enter you. Cost is $5.00 per swimmer.  Warmup at 4:45 PM. While many of our Masters swimmers are seasoned veterens to open water races we had several that are not, and everyone raced well.  For some it was their first open water race, and some their first 5K.  Everyone did a great job in the Crippen Mile and the Masters 5K race.  Our 5K results were excellent with Ginger Tompkins finishing 4th over-all, and 1st in 40-44.  Heather Roka finished 1st in 25-29.   GCST had a dominating presence in the Florida Swimming Open Water Championships held at Miromar Lakes, FL on August 28th, 2012.  GCST was led by first place finishes by Daniella Jordan (13-14 Girls), and Eddie Zacka (15-16 Boys), and Zach Jamieson (Senior Boys).  Makailey Hauser finished 3rd in the 10 & Under Girls 800.  Jessie Walsh finished 5th in the 11-12 Girls 2.5K.  Savannah Bowser finished 3rd, and Susana Peszek finished 5th in 13-14 Girls 5K.  Lexi Faunce finished 2nd in the 15-16 Girls 5K.  Jack Moreland finished 4th...

The Florida Swimming Open Water All-Star Team, and the Florida Gold Coast Open Water All-Star Team will meet at Miromar Lakes for a practice session, and clinic with USA Swimming National Team Member Claire Thompson.  They will then be treated to a pasta dinner at Miromar Lakes Beach Club.
