GCST swimmers have a great time at the beach with Olympians and open water swimming Aaron Piersol’s "Race for the Oceans" benefit for Oceana came to Fort Myers Beach on October 10, and 11. Several GCST swimmers participated in the clinics and race events. They had a great time meeting Olympians Brendan Hansen, Hailey Piersol, Fran Crippen, Aaron Piersol, and Rowdy Gaines at the beach. Molly DuBrasky, Kyle Snew, Alex Latorre, and Mickey Riley competed for Estero High School at the FSPA High School Invitational in Orlando on October 10th. Molly finished 3rd in the 500 Free (4:56.46), and 4th in the 200 Free (1:54.10). Kyle finished 3rd in the 200 IM (1:57.25), and 9th in the 100 Fly (54.09). Florida Swimming has awarded Savannah Bowser as the 10 & Under Girls Short Course Swimmer of the Year. Congratulations to Savannah on her award and the hard work she did to attain it. Way to go Savannah!!!

USA Swimming is proud to announce that 1500 women and men have been named to the 2008-09 Scholastic All-America Team. This is an increase of over 50 percent from the 2007-08 team. The 2008-09 team is composed of 905 women and 595 men. Two-thirds of the team members achieved a 4.0 GPA. There was one perfect score this year – Dagny Knutson of G.S.K. GCST has just been awarded Level 3 out of 4 levels in the USA Swimming Club Recognition Program. The Club Recognition Program offers our club members a working blueprint for developing strong, stable, financially sound and athletically productive organizations. Designed over a two year period by USA Swimming’s Club Development Committee, this voluntary program presents four levels of achievement across four component areas deemed critical to long-term club success.
